~Sparkman and Young Family Birthday's~

This is such a beautiful family. I went to dance and preschool with Kimberly. I remember bugging Kyle (Dr. Sparkman of Amarillo) at their house a few times when I was there with Kimberly when we were little. I got to get back with these two plus Julia and John (Dr. Sparkman of Pampa). I got to meet Ashley, Kyle's wife, who live in Amarillo which I am so excited about! I got to meet Quad, Kimberly's husband. And I got to meet all of the little ones. I believe the oldest was 3 years old out of the 5 grandchildren. 4 precious boys and 1 beautiful baby girl.

Here is the grandparents photo. These kids really love their Mena and Aw John. It wasn't them that Quinn didn't like, it was me. This is when I first got there. Look at little Reagan just smiling away!

Towards the end of the evening, we walked down the hill to the pond where there was some fishing going on. I love this photo of Quad and the three kids fishing. It was such a peaceful place, I could stay there forever!

The reason that I had to show you the photo collages was that there were truly so many photos that I absolutely loved, there was no way that I could even choose a few more photos to put on here so I thought that would be a good idea. You can click on them to make them larger where you can see the photos better.

I want to again thank the Sparkman's and Young's for allowing me to be apart of this very special event that blessed me more than you will ever know and it was so much fun! Love to you all and I can't wait to see you all again!

My Uncle, James wanted to do something special for my aunt for her birthday. He always tries to surprise her every year...I SAID TRIES...haha. He called me and asked if we could do a little photo shoot of him for my aunt for her birthday. We had such a blast! We laughed and just had the best time! He should be a model!

Thanks for letting me do this James even though Janet, your detective wife found out! =)

Serena calls me to tell me that their sister from Dallas is in town and they wanted photos of the three girls, their mom, and the kidos! I have done a shoot for Casey, her kids, (Kolton, and Aspen) and also have done a shoot for Serena's little Aubree and fell in love with these families! So, when Serena called, I knew it was going to be so much fun and I was very blessed to be apart of it!

~McClean Girls Softball~

I had fun shooting the McClean High School girls sofball team at the end of the season. This is the first year that McClean has had a softball team and these girls rocked! They got to the playoffs and I am so proud of all of them. I am mostly proud of my 15 year old cousin, Ashley Medlock. She is our girl...3rd base in these photos! There are three Ashley's on the team. It is quite funny. Ashley Russell playes right field in these photos and then there is Ashley Byron, the awesome pitcher. I can't even think of the stats for Ashley Byron off hand. She is an AMAZING pitcher with amazing stats and most teams would not even let her hit...walking her almost every time. I am just so proud of them. Here are just a few pics!

Thursday, I was so blessed to go over to the Cotgreave house and see my best friend, Kendra and her 2 year old Ella. I also got to see Kendra's sister Brittany, with her 3 year old Breckin, and 6 week old Reece! Then I got to see the rest of the family as well! I love seeing them all because I feel so comfortable mainly because we grew up together! Wow, I miss Kendra, Brittany and the kids so so much when they have to go home! I can't wait to go down to see Kendra when we have nothing going on and we can just have a great time together! She is just such a wonderful woman of God! Here are just a few of the pics I got of the kids!

I just wanted to share this photo of Leo and Taylor that really touched my heart! I can completely parallel this to me and Jesus. You can see that Miss Taylor feel so safe in her Daddy's arms and completely trusts him. I love love love that she has her arm around her Daddy making sure she looks into His eyes as they laugh together. I have always loved photos of Jesus laughing. LOVE IT! This photo just touched me and I had to share it!

Yesterday, I wanted to shoot Miss Gracie on her new trampoline! As she is NOT new to the trampoline, She was SO much fun to shoot doing flips and jumping!

(Not quite sure what I did here but....)

I only have a few edited because I was so exhausted yesterday. It was a truly a great day! Gracie stayed the night with her Heather and then I took her to school at 7:50. I then edited until 10:00 and was off to watch Miss Ella A. while Lezlie went to get her hair cut on her BIRTHDAY! Happy Birthday again Lez! Then after that, I met Lori who took me to get a pedicure....AMAZING...THANK YOU SO MUCH LORI!!! Then we went to pick up Gracie from school. Then we went back to Lori's and I shot Gracie on the trampoline playing with settings and and direct sunlight! LOVED IT!!! Then they went off to pick up Ridge and then off to watch Lindsay's track meet and I was so tired, I couldn't handle it and I AM SO SORRY LINZ! I try so hard to be at the next one!!! But what a fun filled day and I am just so blessed!

This girl can flip. Her and Lindsay used to do Cheer Texas and I remember watching her when she was 4 years old and she stood in front of my tv watching cartoons flipping backwards CONSTANTLY while my dog, Ali watched her the whole time. It was super funny! Lindsay is really good as well!

I haven't really had the chance to play with textures enough to where I have felt comfortable using them in my editing but I played with them yesterday and TRULY loved them. A Time To Breathe, A Time To Rest, A Time To Catch Up...

WOW, things are finally getting back to normal. I can't believe I am getting caught up on my blog. It has been since before Christmas. Christmas was absolutely wonderful. I am so blessed to have the wonderful family and friends that I do.

I got to see my lady bug (Ella) and Kendra when they came into town. I only got to see them one day because I was sick the whole time. It's either me or Ella. ELLA, WE ARE BOTH GOING TO BE ALL WELL NEXT TIME, OK? But it was so great to see them and the Cotgreaves as always.

There has been a lot going on and sickness going around and of course, I have caught all of it. I have had it for almost 3 weeks now and went to Urgent Care this morning again and PRAISE GOD I am feeling SO much better. I am ready to get back to normal.

My grandmother (my Dad's mom) has been in the hospital for about 2 weeks (I think). I didn't get to go see her because I have been so sick but my Grandad, my Dad and my Aunt Julie stayed at my apartment. It was such a blessing to stay with Lori and her kids during this time. We passed sickness around but there was never a dull moment. I don't see how she does it being a single mom with 4 children. She is WONDER MOM!!!

Then my mom had a birthday in which we planned on going to Shamrock and I woke up SUPER sick that morning and went to Urgent Care and had Strep, Bronchitis, and a sinus infection so I was quarantened from the family most of the time. We ended up getting a lot of ice and some snow and the roads were really bad so we ended up staying in Shamrock until last night.

It was so nice to come home to a clean house with clean bedding, all my laundry done, my refriderater cleaned out (and for those of you who know me...THAT IS BIG) but I came home to so much that just overwhelmed me because it blessed me so so much. My aunt Julie did it all while they were staying here. Thank you so much Julie

I have recently joined Facebook (yes, I am a little behind) but it has been AMAZING and such a blessing because I have gotten in touch and get to stay in touch with so many amazing people who have been apart of my life all throughout! Wow! OK, KENDRA AND BRITTANY, ME AND BROOKE V. HAVE DECIDED YALL NEED TO GET ON THERE. WE TOOK A VOTE WITHOUT YALL! ;-)

~Colten And Aspen~

Recently, I have had the privilege of getting to know Casey. Casey's little girl, Aspen, and few other girls did some play modeling for me at Kim's baby shower so I was so excited when Casey asked me to do her kid's photo's for her. AND THESE KIDS REALLY KNOW HOW TO HAVE FUN! The shoot went super fast because I didn't really need to tell Colten and Aspen to do much of anything. They just did their thing for the most part and I just took the photo's. I laughed because later, Casey told me that she told her kids that I don't do cheesy smiles and that I wanted them to just play and pretend I am not even there and they did! I really think it helped a lot. Their age had a lot to do with it. Colten, 10, was so great and so very sweet to is little sister Aspen, 5. And Aspen is just so precious and beautiful just like her mom.

Sunday, I got the privelige of getting to shoot the Segura family. It was fun and it was so great to see how much the girls have grown since I have seen them last. We just did a shoot in the park. Alicia and I headed out last Thursday morning to shoot some photo's. We knew it was going to be cold but had no idea how cold it was going to be. And me and 8:00 in the morning don't mix well but we did it and got some great photo's. Here are just a few. I have most of her photo's to edit. We just had to get her announcement photo edited so she could go ahead and send them out.

I have had so much fun getting to know her. We have found out that we are so much alike, it is very scary but a lot of fun!

~Welcome Baby Teigan~

Before I could even finish editing Kim's "Baby Bump" photo's and her baby shower photo's, Baby Teigan came into the world. He was born this last Thursday morning. I just got a shot right when they brought him into the nursery and he was making a lot of faces. I saw him tonight and he is SO BEAUTIFUL! He is so tiny and so precious! And he LOVES his Heather!!! lol I believe we will be doing his newborn photo's at 2 weeks which will be here before we know it. Congratulations Kim! He's here and he is so precious!

I was driving tonight in the middle of the night as I do so much when I just need to clear my mind or really think. I never listen to the radio because my time in the car is a time I really spend talking to God SO MUCH! Lately, I have felt like such a mistake and I just can't seem to reach God. I have HOPE. Like the song says, I have Peace for some reason in the midst of the chaos but OVER AND OVER I have gotten knocked down again and again and again. Sometimes, it has been my fault and others, it just has happened. Everything some crazy health issues that will get better over time--to MONEY...GRRRRRR.... But tonight, I was angry, and I turned the radio on out of anger and I flipped through the channels and as I was pulling up to my apartment, this song came on. I'm sure most of you have heard it but I have never and I bawled! It came on right at the first and I sat there in the jeep in front of my apartment in the middle of the night bawling as I listened to this song and I thought I would share it with you. I'm going to put the video up and then I am going to write the lyrics after the video.

Photography has been absolutely amazing! I thank God for a certain door he shut. I didn't understand why at the time but as He promises, it works out for the best!

It's Pumpkin Patch time, I had a Pumpkin Patch/Family photo session on Sat. Saturday night, we went to the hockey game because little Hudson (3 years old) was playing during intermission. I'm SO SORRY but it is really sad when the tiny little kids play better than our own Amarillo Gorilla's team. Then Sunday, I shot a Kim's Baby Shower and passed out a lot of business cards there. lol These ladies were all so cute and had the cutest babies and kids and some on the way. Kim had a great turn out and she looked so pretty. I will be posting some of her baby shower later. I will post one of Hudson at the hockey game in his gear too! This week, we are doing Kim's baby belly shots on Wed. and hopefully Braelee's 3/6 month old photo's either Thurs. or Friday. And I have more Pumpkin Patch shoots. But I am not complaining one bit just praying God will help me with money a little because I just had to buy the Photoshop CS6 Suite that was almost $700 that I didn't have because mine decided to mess up and they no longer have it or support it. So, PLEASE God, continue to bring business my way! Anyway, I will post a few photo's of some shoots and then I am off to bed! Love to you all!

This has been so hard for me to wait to post these photo's because they are just so darn cute. When I was in Dallas, Brittany and Kendra decided to get Breckin and Ella (cousins) in their Easter outfits from this last Easter because they never really got any so we did it secretly so that they could give them to their Mimi and Papa this last weekend! Here are a few. We didn't do very many of them but we didn't have to. If I don't end up posting all of them, they are on my web page. These two need to be on the front of greeting cards for sure!!!

~Santa Fe, NM...Here I Come~

I am so excited to go to Santa Fe for the weekend. We are leaving tomorrow. We are going for a wedding which is going to be at the Loredo Chapel which is the chapel with the famous spiral staircase. AMAZING! Before and after that, we are just going to have fun. I can't wait to shoot all the amazing churches and structures. I can't wait to shoot for fun. I just don't do that as much as I used to and I am so excited to do this! I am also really excited about spending time with my mom, aunt, uncle and cousin. It seems like we are all so busy and it gets so hard just to see family when they only live an hour and a half away. When our whole reason here on earth is for relationships...our love for others. I will have tons of photo's when I get back and can't wait to post them already. Have a blessed weekend!

Ella's 2 Year Old Photo Shoot

I can't believe it! Miss Ella is now 2 years old! WOW!!! I had the best time staying with Kendra and Ella a couple weeks ago. It is amazing how fast these little ones grow and change and with me not being a parent yet, it is GREAT training. I told Kendra and Brittany that they need to start journaling as they go so they can help me when my little ones come along some day AFTER I get married. LOL (NO, seriously) I will be posting some of Breckin later as well.

We started doing Ella's 2 year photo's when I was there. We have a little bit more to go but did get the majority of it done. I wanted to share some from her photo shoot so far. What a doll! She did make me and her Momma work though! lol

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS ELLA AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENDRA! Love you girls so much!

ABOVE: We went to a beautiful park here. Ella and I walked ahead while Kendra was getting some the stroller and some other things ready and Ella decided to do some major posing while Momma was waiting for us. It was really funny.

All the way through, to keep her interest, we would tell her to look and listen for Hephalumps. It was the cutest thing ever.

What a road it has been since the last time I was able to write on my blog a couple of weeks ago. SERIOUSLY! My faith has been tested in ways that are absolutely unbelievable and I am trusting God and loving God more than I ever have in my life. I am so excited to see where His road will take me.

I am finally catching up in my photography. In the midst of editing the second half of a wedding, I lost the EDITED part of the second half. I about died but finally I am finished. Thank you Molli and Alan for your patience. Again, I am truly sorry but I really appreciate you!

Right before I went to Dallas, I had the privilege of doing a photo shoot of 1 1/2 month old baby Braeley. She is SO precious and so petite and beautiful. Even though we had a little time constraint, I got some fun shots. Brae will be my first "1ST YEAR" baby. We will shoot again at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and then 12 months. I am so excited! Here are a few of her photo's I wanted to post!

~Women Of Faith Conference 2008~

Talk about WOW...I am still amazed by God's awesome love and grace that has been shown to me this last weekend at the Women of Faith Conference. I think every year that this conference just can not possibly get any better and God proves me wrong in a huge way every year. This year, I got to go down to Dallas to stay with my friend Kendra and go to the conference with her, her sister and some friends. I was a different person going into it this year (in a good way)...my heart was receptive, my mind was open, I was alert and ready to listen, and ready to learn. For the first time, I went into it freed from my past so there was a brand new slate to start on. Amazing things happened inside that I am still not able to fathom and can't wait to see what God will be doing in my life.

If you have never heard of Women Of Faith, please click on the link above and it will take you to their web sight. It will be one of the most mind-blowing things you ever experience. This year, the main speakers here in Dallas were Patsy Clairmont, Marilyn Meberg, Luci Swindol, and Sheila Walsh and Sandy Patty. The guest speaker was Steve Arterbern author of Boundaries (and many many more) and founder of Women of Faith. The dramatist was of course the great Nicole Johnson. The guest comedian was Anita Renfroe. The music artists were both absolutely amazing...Natalie Grant and Nicole C. Mullen. It is hard to believe that all of these AMAZING men and women of God were sent to share the power of God with thousands of women and squeezed into Friday evening and part of Sat. I am almost at a loss for words of how awesome and SO SO humbling it is to be in an arena completely full of other Christian women who are all joined together in God's name. There is something so precious about that...and the thing even bigger is that through all the speakers, dramatists, music artists, etc...God speaks to every single person listening in the whole arena through the same person, message, drama, and songs. WOW...

This week has been such an incredible week. I am just going to put myself out there and be open right now but those of you who I am close to know that I have not been myself for a long time. I have allowed so many confusing things from the past ball up like rubber bands inside and I have come to the realization that I CAN'T do it anymore. It's time to deal with it all because I can't move forward until I do. I love the verse on the blog of one of my best friend, Kendra's, Luke 9:62 and she put "Holding onto the past hinders you from moving forward in the things of God. Release the past and look forward to a dynamic future with Him." This has become so evident in my life and God has brought someone from my church into my life MUCH wiser and stronger in his faith than I to mentor me, counsel me and help me walk through the muck and finally get experience life to it's fullness. It is very scary but at last, after so long, I can't wait!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT! I already feel the FREEDOM God has for me ahead. I FINALLY see the light at the end of the tunnel, the HOPE that can only come from my Father. Praise God!

As I have pondered on 1 Timothy 3:12 last week and this week, I have realized as Timothy did, so long ago, that God wants to use us no matter where we are at! God wants to use me right where I am. He doesn't want to wait until times or better or easier or for me to be braver. He wants to use me today. He wants to use me right now. That is so AWESOME! As I began going through this healing period, it was NOT good nor fun and I wanted to quit everything I was doing because I felt so lost and didn't feel like I deserved to be doing anything like photography while I am in this place in my life. Praise God that He has so much more for us than what we deserve. Praise God that He can use the broken right where we are...

Thank you so much to my wonderful friends and family who have stuck by me even though it hasn't been easy (and you know who you are). I love you all so much and am so blessed to have you in my life!

Sunday was a great day. After church, Lori got her kids ready and we headed for the park for a photo shoot. We decided to do just the girls that day but we got a little more. Here are just a few from the shoot. Children are so great!

ABOVE: Speaking of growing up, Lindsay is almost a teenager. BEAUTIFUL girl! And such a fun and beautiful spirit!

Looking at the photo's I have taken a year ago of Morgan...WOW. It is so amazing how fast they grow. Last year, I took Morgan out for a shoot, really just practicing, but I told her she needed to "Work It" because she didn't know what to do. I wanted her to act natural. She picked it up so quick last year and this year, she had it down. She was doing some great poses as well. LOL

Actually, I will post more later. AND there will be bloopers. YES, you heard me right, there will be bloopers in this session that I will probably put on my web sight as well. With 3 girls all wanting to pose for the camera...WELL...let's say that by the end of the day, it got VERY interesting. :-D

~Dane's Birthday Party...I won't tell you how OLD he is~

Sorry it has been a while since I have been on here. Things have been crazy as always but very productive. I have gotten so much editing finished and it is sure going to be a busy month for photo shoots! Praise God! I have a few photo's from Dane's birthday party which was so much fun! It was on the same day of Breckin and Ella's Easter Egg Hunt (the day before Easter). I LOVE this WHOLE family. It gives me chills thinking about being with every single one of them because I grew up with the Cotgreaves and it is such a blessing and a privilege to know the girls families as well now! Kendra, Brittany and Ryan all have grown up to be such incredible, godly people. It brings tears to my eyes as we speak.
ABOVE: After the kids did their Easter Egg Hunt, we went out to the driveway and alley to "let the kids throw the confetti eggs"...well Dane thought anyway...OOPS! He got hammered by the whole family!

He has turned into such a godly young man. He is about to graduate in a couple of weeks and got into PT school. Congratulations Ryan. I really am proud of you and I really had a good time with you and Lindsay!

ABOVE: We all headed down to the media room to get the party started. What a blast it was! The media room is another story and photo shoot in itself. Going down stairs is like going down the steps of a movie theater, being greeted by the ticket taker in the window. There is a movie screen with the curtains and all. There is the snack bar in the very back with all the candy and coke and anything you can think of. There is even a popcorn machine. Then as you go down the steps, there is the movie lighting down the stairs and walls and then there are levels with poofy leather seats with cup and snack holders and a little nook in between seats for blankets. Talk about the most rad place ever. There is way more! I am so happy for you Stan and Cheryl for your new house! You guys truly deserve it!!!!

Here is little Corbin. This is Lori's sister, Julie's, baby boy. Julie and Corbin got to come into the area to see family. Little Corbin is adorable! And Julie is one proud mommy, has 2 proud big sisters and a of proud family!!!

This was my first "Brand New One's" photo shoot and it was a lot more work than I ever thought it would be. WOW... It was a lot of fun. We all got really creative and had to use what we had because it was kindof a last minute thing. It was so much fun though. I didn't realize that I hold my breath when I am taking photo's because I tend to shake...so with the baby when he was asleep, I swear I held my breath until I was purple until I could get a good shot and then I had to stop and breath really hard for a while. It was quite funny. We got him at his nap time but of course every time we tried to move him, it was quite a task for his mommy to get him back to sleep! Mr. Ridge had his 3rd birthday the day after Easter. WOW...how the time flies. Yep...I am already 3o...where in the world does the time go? It really makes me think! Anyway, Ridge had a great birthday party with his sissies and friends and others. We did face painting and played. Then we ate SPIDER MAN cake. SPIDER MAN EVERYTHING. It was super cute. He was thrilled! Then he had TONS of presents to open and play with and had a lot of help! He was a little on overload but he had a blast! ~Mr. Ridge's Easter Egg Hunt~

What a blast this little guy had! The Easter Bunny came Sunday morning for him and it was cold outside so the Easter Bunny came inside at his house and hid all the eggs inside. WOW...it was too much fun for him. He loved everything about it! It was a lot of fun for all of us as well!!! Here are just a few fast editing jobs just so I can share some of them with you.

It was a great Easter and we had an AWESOME sermon at church. At first we weren't sure were the story was actually going because it wasn't the normal Easter story you always here but it was AMAZING!!! The title was "BECAUSE OF EASTER". Because of Easter, we live to do what we do. Because of Easter, we are able to be here today and are forgiven of all of our sins. Because of Easter, we get to spend eternity in heaven when we die. ~Ella and Breckin's Easter Egg Hunt~

BOY do I love these two kids and the family for that matter. I have known all of them for a long time. The Sat. before Easter, the kids had an Easter Egg Hunt and then family and friends came over to Cheryl and Stan's for Dane's 30 birthday party. It was such a blast and it was such a privilege for me to get to be apart of it all. I getting closer to finishing the editing for this shoot. Here are just a few from the Easter Egg Hunt. I took over 200 photo's that night and there were not many bad ones. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

So sorry I am having to catch up on my blog. I was going to try so hard to keep this up once a week and I am still going for the goal. Easter just put me behind a bit. Here Ridge got a new skateboard. This was literally the very first time to ride it. He took off on it...the CORRECT way. He was even popping the end up with his foot to catch it and carry it without even thinking one thought about it. I was stunned. What a dude!

It's been a while but I am back doing the blog thing. I didn't know if I should keep it up there for a while but I really feel that I am supposed to. What a journey it has been this year so far in my life. With everything going on, I am learning more and more every day that things need to be more prioritized and organized in my life. And for an artist to be organized...well, let's just say it's not easy!!! I have learned that it is so much easier with God than to try to do it on my own...that's for sure. I am learning to find PEACE in my life right now. In the midst of chaos, I have learned that there is always PEACE no matter where I am at. Hi everyone. I hope everything is going well for you all. A couple of weeks ago, Kendra and Ella came into town to visit and I spent a day with them and Ella's Mimi. Hi everybody, I just wanted to post some photo's I took of us during the Christmas break when it snowed. We got out the four wheeler and sleds to pull behind it and had a blast. I wish I would have been able to get high where we could have gotten a better picture. Too funny though

Miss Ella got to spend the day with me all day Saturday and we had a blast! This is one busy 1 year old!!! I made her a tutu the night before so we went outside several times to try it out. Being graceful wasn't her best quality but she made for some very funny and some VERY BEAUTIFUL photo's! I sure do love this girl!

Tonight, I had a blast getting to see my best friend Kendra, her baby Ella, her sister Brittany, her son Breckin, and the girl's parents. It was a blast as usual. Breckin got a lion costume while we were shopping and he had to try it on and I took the opportunity to shoot both kids with my new SLR digital camera. I was really happy with some of them. These two are too cute!

Hi Everyone. I am sorry it has taken me so long to post anything. Things have been busy as usual. I hope things are well with you all of you! I have been shooting my dad's 35 mm camera this semester and today was the first time that I actually got to develop my film in the dark room, make a contact sheet from my negatives and then develop photo's. Our assignment was Unusual Perspective which was a lot of fun. The whole experience has just been Awesome!!! I could live in that dark room! Talk about...THERAPY!!! Anyway, I just wanted to show you some of the photo's I developed today!

ABOVE: This was the photo my professor actually chose for me to enlarge. It was so much fun to play with because of the contrast of the light pole, the blue sky and the white puffy clouds.

ABOVE: On this one, I learned how to crop on the machine and this one was actually done also with a photo filter. We aren't supposed to know this stuff yet though.

ABOVE: On this one, our lab assistant, Shonda, taught me how to darken and lighten not only with the machines before we process the photo but also how to lighten area's just to make the photo less perfect and a little more funky

ALSO, my new digitial camera (the Canon Rebel XTi and all the accessories) came in today so I am VERY excited to get that out and start playing with it! Talk to all of you very soon!

Meet Gracie. I used to be a nanny to three little girls. Gracie is the youngest and was in preschool, Morgan is the next , and Lindsay is the oldest. Grace got out really early since she was in morning preschool so we were pals. I love these girls! One night, the girls and their baby brother, Ridge stayed the night. When Ridge went to sleep the girls decided they wanted to play dress up and take pictures for their mom. So, we took a lot of pictures which I lost when my last laptop crashed. For some reason I have this one and I manipulated it and entered it into a photo contest. Gracie has been in the top 15 every single day since I entered her. I made the photo black and white and then I went in and free handed the color on the hat, boots, and shirt. Then I put a black edge on it.

~Mosaic Cross~

This is a huge hobby of mine. I will be posting a log of pictures of mosaics I have done in the past. I began this about 3 or 4 years ago. I was TERRIBLE the first couple of times I did it but I caught onto it really fast. My main items I sell are the crosses. I use very very fine china usually with 3-D items in the center. As this one has antique ceramic roses in the center. This cross actually belongs to my Nana. I have made crosses, trays, tables, birdhouses and birdhouse chapels and quite a few other things. As I work on these mosaics, I think of our brokenness that we all experience in our lives. Just as these fine pieces of china were broken to make something DIFFERENT yet BEAUTIFUL, God does the same things in our lives. He uses all of our broken pieces in our lives to make something DIFFERENT yet BEAUTIFUL. We may not be able to see it yet. But he is at work! ABOVE: This is just a close up of the center of the cross. The roses have a little moss around them to fill in the holes. This is one of my favorite crosses I have done. I am not currently making mosaic items but I will be in the future. I will definately keep you posted!

Hi everyone. Sorry that it has been a while since I have updated. I have been a little under the weather. I am back though and working on my art. I have a new painting that I just sprayed the top coat on and am waiting for it to dry so I can post it. It is really cool!

This drawing is one I did in Design I. It looks a little warped for some reason. It doesn't look straight. I couldn't get it to look right when I took the picture for some reason. If you have ever used Prismacolor colored pencils, you know how tedious it can be. This picture doesn't do justice at all to it. It has many many layers of pencil especially on the shell. My inspiration was my little red-eared slider turtle, Myrtle.

~A Couple of Typography Projects~

These are only a few "Computer Graphic's" projects that I have done. Typography was my first real computer graphics class and I learned so much! But, I will be adding more of these later.ABOVE: This project was my favorite. This is an example of a public service newspaper add. We got to create it all. I wanted to do child abuse at first but we were supposed to have a picture in there and I just couldn't do that. Then I chose adoption because it is so important also. I found this family in a magazine. I wanted to make it look like the little boy wrote a letter above the picture and the information of the add. I wanted it to look just like a little boy would do it. The handwriting could have been much sloppier. I crumpled a torn out piece of paper. I tore it and made it a little worn. I misspelled a few words with his writing. I wanted it to look like the little boy used masking tape to tape it to the add. To do this, I had to do all the above, then use masking tape to tape it onto black mat board. I had to get the lighting just right and I took a million pictures (it seems like to get just the effect I wanted). I had no idea that it took this much but I am very proud of it.

ABOVE: I believe this was our first project we did in Typography and it was so much fun. We had to use ONLY computer fonts to make a self portrait of ourselves. It was so much fun to see everyone's because most of them truly looked like the person.

ABOVE: I think this was either the first of second thing we did in Typography. This was to be a small poster. We were to use only 2 colors. We could use different shades of the color. Looking back, I now could do this so much better but AGAIN, that is why I post these to remind us that we ALL get better with practice and learn from our mistakes.

~My Bottle...Using Stipplling~

This again was one of my favorite projects to do. I did this one my first semester in High School and it is such a tedious thing, our professor didn't make us do it so I really had no clue what I was doing at the time. I know more about it now. I still just love the way it turned out. The process is called "Stippling" and can be called several other things as well. The whole picture is made out of tiny close together dots (some closer together than others to get the different shades). Above: The above drawing was done on an 15"x24" piece of paper and literally took all semester long and one single marker to complete (if you can believe that.) My mom used to have a very dark green bottle that had grapes wrapped around it. I put the bottle in front of a window and the light variations were amazing. So, I first drew out all the different variations with pencil and then used 3 main shades that I wrote in with pencil. When I was finished with all the dots, I tried to do some blending so it didn't look so blotchy.

These are my drawings from my first semester of college. In the past, I had only done cartoon art so I truly didn't believe that I could actually do any other kind of art. And remember, these are my very first ones so don't laugh...
ABOVE: This was a fun drawing even though it looks like it is floating in the middle of no where. I have one of those crumpled up cowgirl hats that I looked at to make the hat. I am very proud of the way the hat turned out. The boot is my FAT BABY boot and I made up the rope. If I were to do this one again. I would put an old boot and an old rope to draw. I think that would make this drawing awesome.
ABOVE: Here I am trying so hard to grasp the concept of making things look real and not flat. You can tell here that I am a cartoon artist. That is exactly what it looks like. DO YOU SEE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS DRAWING THAT ISN'T RIGHT? IF YOU DO, WRITE ME A COMMENT!

ABOVE: This was a STILL LIFE drawing. Here, more than anything, our professor was trying to help us grasp the concept of "drapery." For yall who don't know what that is, it is drawing material, the way it drapes, whether it is a sheet, blanket, clothing, curtain, etc... It is really easy for some people to draw it. I still have a hard time with it but I need to practice. My professor sat down with me one day when I wouldn't leave class because I couldn't grasp this. He told me that he had to practice and practice and practice until one day, he just saw it and has been drawing it every since. I NEED TO PRACTICE. It really is a beautiful thing.

ABOVE: This was one of my first drawings in college. Our professor set up some things for us to draw. This is my basket. I learned a lot from this drawing. (NOT TO DRAW EVERYTHING I SEE...TO SIMPLIFY A LITTLE). :-)

ABOVE: This was another STILL LIFE drawing. I remember this one because a very dear friend and incredible artist I sat by in class, taught me about negative space on this one. To make the strings white and surround it with shading to make it look a little more real.

Yesterday and today, I have been working on a new whimsical painting. I can't wait to finish it and get it on here. I am just a little exhausted right now. I also have some new stamps for my stamp art that I will be doing a lot of and they are just really fun! They look absolutely beautiful framed with a black mat and then a thick black frame. ~My "Water Lilies" Pastel Drawing~

This was my final Design I project. We were to pick a famous painting and try to copy it to the best of our ability. Let's just say that I will never again say," I can do that" about any artists work again...not that I did that about this painting of "Water Lilies" by Monet.

The above pastel drawing is my finished product. By looking at it, you can tell what painting it is, but it was almost impossible to get it exact with the time we had to do it. I did pull a couple of all nighter's to do this project. I had never worked with pastel's before. I can say now that I absolutely loved working with the pastels and this project was one of the most rewarding projects that I have ever done!

The above picture is my work in progress. You can tell that I had never used pastels. But I love looking at it because I learn so much from it.

This above photo is my workspace during this process. I have tried to work on an easel but never liked it. With pastels, you almost have to work on an easel for several reasons. Pastels smear very bad so you don't want to be resting your hand on the paper which would also make it greasy. Also, pastels have a lot of powder that you need to let run off as you work. I just loved it!

These drawings were all done my second semester of college in Drawing II. I was very intimidated by them at first but I ended up loving the process. There is so much blending, highlighting and shadowing involved. I had no idea but it was very rewarding.

~Manikin Series~

These drawings were done my first and second semesters of college in Drawing I and Drawing II. Drawing these manikins have been really good at helping me see how the body moves and I just learned to have a lot of fun with my little manikin. Each drawing took VERY little time...I would say 2 minutes tops...if that much!
The drawing above is my favorite. This one was actually in the AC/WTAMU Student/Faculty Art Exhibit my second semester. I call this one "Dancing Manikin." The medium used here are Prismacolor Colored Pencils.
This drawing above I actually did way to fast. The manikin is actually supposed to be running the opposite direction but it is hard to tell this. But we all learn from things like this! The medium used is pastel.
This drawing above, I have to laugh at also because I ended up running out of room at the bottom and made his legs short. This is my "Success Manikin." The medium used is pastel.
The drawing above is called my "Stepping Forward" Manikin. The medium used here is pastel.
This is my "Praying Manikin." I wouldn't be where I am today and where I am going to be without God! This one is done in conte crayon.
The drawing above was also put in the AC/WTAMU Student/Faculty Art Exhibit. This one was done with Prismacolor Colored Pencils. This one is called "Manikin of Many Colors."

~FOR SALE ~ "Angel Cross"

This is a cross that I began doing last Christmas and it has been very popular. The cross is 12" in length and 8" in width. You can have this made in any colors you want. I use two different colors. I use one color for a base color and then I cover it with another color.
(For example: The popular one has been this color of the cross above. I painted it white and then I painted it a red/berry color and then it is scuffed up so the underlying color shows through. The outside edges are also scuffed up making it glow. ) It is a very very fun cross that can be used any time of the year for your cross collection or just alone! Also, great for gifts! It is up to you what colors you would like to use though. I then make the angel out of a thick wire and then attach the angel to the cross. The cross sells for $15.oo.
